New trailer for All the Money in the World premieres with Kevin Spacey replaced by Christopher Plummer
The first trailer showing Christopher Plummer in All the Money in the World has been released, after Plummer replaced Kevin Spacey in a last-minute reshoot.
The film tells the story of real-life oil tycoon J Paul Getty, whose 16-year-old grandson was kidnapped in 1973. Despite his vast wealth, Getty refused to pay his grandson's ransom.
Scott cut Spacey from his film, without telling the actor,
replacing him with Plummer at an estimated cost of $10 million. The
swift reshoot, which took place across a handful of days in November,
was completed in time for the film to meet its original December 22
release date.
As of Wednesday, Spacey was under investigation by London's Metropolitan Police for two allegations of sexual assault. Explaining his decision to cut the actor from the film, Scott said: "Sometimes you’ve got to lay down the law. You have to!” Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, he added: "You can’t tolerate any kind of behavior like that."

Shooting had already finished
for the film, with Spacey in the role of Getty, when director Ridley
Scott heard about the recent sexual assault allegations leveled against
the 58-year-old actor.

Last month, Star Trek: Discovery star Anthony Rapp claimed
Spacey had tried to "seduce" him at a party in the Eighties, when Rapp
would have been 14 years old. Spacey has since apologised to the younger
actor, adding that he did not remember the alleged incident.
Given
Spacey's last-minute removal from All the Money in the World, it remains
to be seen whether the character of Getty will play a reduced role in
the new version. In the new 30-second trailer, he only speaks one word:
"Nothing."
